I am excited to report that your CCC Program Board accomplished much in 2011. From welcoming our former Program Advisor (and CONNECT Conference boss) Vince L. Rodriguez back to NRECA and the CCC program, to working with the Council of Rural Electric Communicators (CREC) on the Innovative Communication Project, to — most importantly — a major (and sorely needed) overhaul of the CCC examination, it was a busy time for all of us.
During our September board meeting, the CCC budget was thoroughly discussed. Unfortunately, there was a little too much red on the budget for our liking. The board voted on a procedural change during that meeting, and I wanted to bring you up to speed on it.
As far as we can tell, the annual CCC professional fee has not changed in the 25 years of the CCC program. After researching various professional fees in our industry and similar ones, we realized that our $100 fee was actually a bit low. We voted to raise the professional fee (your annual dues) to $150 per year, beginning in 2012.
The investment for prospective CCC candidates is also going up. The application fee, the portfolio fee, and the exam fee will each be raised from $100 to $150. Those increases will more accurately reflect the actual cost of those items.
Rest assured that we did not make these changes without much deliberation and thought. We are working hard to continue to provide you with extra value for your CCC professional fee. In fact, we are very excited about a new, advanced level of training that we are hoping to develop this year.
Please let me, or any other board member, know if you have any questions about the CCC program or if you have any thoughts and ideas about some advanced training you would like to receive.
